Minecraft 1.17 - also known as the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update, will take the game to new heights (and depths). With a focus on overhauling mountain and cave biomes, Mojang Studios has already shown some impressive changes in recent imagery. The maximum height / depth of the world has been increased from 252 to 320, several new mobs have been added, and the caves have more dynamic generations than before. 

Mojang Studios has already released a texture update in 2019, but it hasn't made any significant changes to the iconic Minecraft ores other than the Emerald Ore. However, in Minecraft 1.17, ores look completely different than they do now.
